Campaign Description
Tales from the Crypt is an episodic horror campaign that follows a group of investigators as they encounter the dark mysteries plaguing the rural region surrounding Millbrook Village. Each arc presents a self-contained horror story inspired by classic nightmare scenarios, while weaving together an overarching narrative of creeping supernatural corruption spreading through the land.
The campaign structure mirrors classic horror anthologies, where each “tale” explores different aspects of fear and the unknown. From possessed scholars and haunted libraries to abandoned monasteries hiding forbidden secrets, the party will face psychological horror, supernatural threats, and moral dilemmas that test not just their courage, but their sanity.
As the investigators delve deeper into each mystery, they begin to uncover connections between seemingly isolated incidents - suggesting a greater malevolent force at work. Ancient knowledge seeps into the world like poison, transforming ordinary people into vessels for otherworldly horrors. The line between victim and villain blurs as the party discovers that sometimes the greatest monsters are those who were once just like them.
The campaign emphasizes atmospheric tension over gore, favoring psychological dread and moral complexity. Each arc can stand alone as a complete horror story, but together they form a tapestry of interconnected nightmares that build toward a climactic confrontation with the source of the region’s corruption.
