Your party has arrived in the quiet farming village of Millbrook, drawn by rumors of strange occurrences at the local library. The villagers speak in hushed tones about their librarian, Elara Whitmore, who recently returned from a scholarly research trip to the ancient Monastery of Silent Wisdom.
Since her return two months ago, Elara has become… different. While once a kind but unremarkable scholar, she now possesses an unsettling breadth of knowledge about topics no living person should know. Parents have begun keeping their children away from the library after several reported nightmares, and some of the older villagers whisper that she knows things about their pasts that were long buried.
The village elder, concerned for both Elara’s wellbeing and the safety of his people, has quietly put out word that he would compensate any capable individuals willing to investigate what might have happened to their beloved librarian during her time away.
