The Spirits Emerge
When room 3 was opened, two vengeful spirits emerged from the charred interior and immediately pursued Trina downstairs. The spirits divided their assault strategically:
- One spirit cornered the group of burly men at their table
- The other positioned itself to guard the inn’s entrance
Both spirits possessed their targets—one taking control of Trina, the other inhabiting one of the burly patrons—and forced them to attack the party.
The Deadly Confrontation
The party managed to subdue the possessed burly man, causing his controlling spirit to flee back toward room 3. However, Trina’s situation ended more tragically. As the spirit attempted to escape while still possessing her body, Marcus grasped Trina by both sides of her head and coldly executed her with an eldritch blast, delivering the killing blow with calculated precision—as if he had been waiting for this exact opportunity. The spirit was forced to abandon Trina’s now lifeless corpse and retreat upstairs.
Sealing the Door
With both vengeful spirits driven back into room 3, the barkeep met the group upstairs. He handed Marcus a scroll and instructed him to use it on the door. After much unnecessary debate, Marcus sealed the door with a scroll of Arcane Lock—likely setting the password as the first thing that popped into his head: “password.”
The Investigation Continues
Before retreating to their room, the group took one last look around the area and found two pieces of burnt (parchment fragment 1 and parchment fragment 2) parchment on the ground. Unable to decipher what was written on the parchment, Marcus identified a symbol belonging to a prestigious investigator’s guild. Although the name escaped him, Marcus knew that the guild’s members were extremely talented and well-versed in their professions.
A Disturbing Night
The group retreated to their room for a well-deserved rest after the night’s harrowing events. However, that evening, haunted by voices and nightmares, Sylvar climbed out the window and fled into the night, never to be seen again.
Session 3 begins with the party inside their inn room, having just parted ways with the barkeep for the night.
